Barrington House
We like to think of Barrington House as the ultimate celebration house where families and friends will come together for those special occasions and where wonderful memories will be made.
Having lived in the house ourselves for the last 8 years we can honestly say that it is a very special house. From the moment you walk through the enormous front door you are greeted with character, warmth and style.

UPSTAIRS
The house sleeps 12 guests in beautiful spacious rooms and we are happy to add a cot or two if need be. There will be no fighting over the best room as there are fantastic features to every room.
There are 2 super king rooms with amazing bathrooms including rainfall showers and luxurious baths. There are 2 bedrooms with twin beds which can be zipped together and made into super king beds. There is one king size bedroom with ensuite and there is a bunk room with its very own ensuite. Altogether there are 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
The house is cleverly organised so that if you wish you can arrange for the adults to be at the front of the house in 3 large and rather lovely rooms and the children to be at the back of house in 3 fun and fabulous rooms.
RIVER RETREAT
Purple tones and white gloss furniture set the scene for a very tranquil bedroom. An extra long king size bed, plenty of wardrobe space and 2 elegant chairs sat in the window make up this wonderful room. From wherever you may sit or lie the views of the river can be seen. Venture into the luxurious bathroom and the views don’t go away – relax in the egg shaped bath or shower in style whilst taking in the views.
CASTLE COVE
Teak, fur, leather and flowers combine beautifully to make this room full of character and ambience. Relax in the enormous king size bed and watch the world go by. With views of Dartmouth Castle and out to sea from every corner of the room, you certainly won’t be disappointed. Step into the bathroom and you will be blown away. A square bath takes its position in the centre of the bathroom and hanging above is what we call the disco light – a beautiful glass colour changing chandelier! The rest of the bathroom is just as impressive with its powerful shower and tasteful bathroom accessories.
ROYAL BRITANNIA
Step into nautical niceness – navy blue and white combine to make this room a relaxing retreat. Single beds which can be zipped together to make a super king, a comfy sofa which can become a sofa bed and to top it all off – you have your very own balcony. With views overlooking The Britannia Royal Naval College, you feel very much part of the life of a cadet, you can even hear their gruelling exercise regime and bands practicing.
Step down into your ensuite with a power shower and plenty of storage space. This bathroom has 2 doors so can be conveniently used as an ensuite and as a bathroom to The Dartmouth Den.
THE CABIN
Nautical niceness continues along the corridor where you will find The Cabin – a bedroom filled with fun.
Perfect for the younger guests of the house where Double Trouble can sleep in the porthole bunkbeds and they even have their own ensuite shower room.
DARTMOUTH DEN
At the back of the house you will find The Dartmouth Den – a really cool and stylish room with Jack Wills bedding and sail cloth accessories.
The twin beds can be zipped together to make a super king bed and there is plenty of space for 2 people to just hang out and watch TV.
DRIFTWOOD DREAM
The Driftwood king size bed and views of the Naval College compete for importance in this lovely bright and colourful room.
Sit on the sofa, gaze out of the window or soak away in the bath in your private ensuite- there is plenty going on in this relaxing room and with its aqua tones you really do feel like you are beside the seaside.
DOWNSTAIRS
Downstairs there is plenty of room for everyone!
The hub of the house is the enormous kitchen/dining/lounging/playroom which opens up onto the outside patio – perfect for your morning cup of tea and alfresco eating.
There is also a more formal dining room with an open fire and a lovely big sitting room with comfy sofas, swirling chairs, velvet poufs and bean bags!
THE KITCHEN
The enormous kitchen/diner/playroom is probably the best room in the house and lends itself to entertaining everyone. The all singing and all dancing kitchen has every appliance and bit of equipment you could possibly wish for and the extra large long dining table certainly sets the scene for long and enjoyable meal times. The clever pane of glass separates the kitchen/diner from the playroom where you can keep a watchful eye on the little ones having fun with all the teddies, games and books available.
There is the all important utility room just off the kitchen which houses the extra fridge freezer and dishwasher which come in very handy when there is a large group of you. There is of course the washing machine and tumble dryer should you have the time to do any laundry!
DINE IN STYLE
Every big house needs a room where you feel important and this is it.
As formal as you would like to make it, the grand dining table and high ceilings make this room the perfect place to celebrate and dine in style.
The open fire and lounging chairs add to the ambience of this very special room.
LOUNGE IN STYLE
Plenty of space for everyone in this very calm and relaxing room. A beautiful corner sofa, a circular love seat and velvet poufs provide the setting for informal gatherings, playing games and watching movies on the big screen with surround sound.
THE GARDEN WITH A VIEW
The outside space of Barrington House is what sets it apart from any other house in Dartmouth – we really do have the best views. From the moment the wooden gates open, you enter into world of wows! Look at the house, look at the views, look at the trees, look at the trampoline, look at the horse box bar and look at the hot tub! We really think you will be blown away by the setting – it is very special and very beautiful and whatever the weather will provide long and lasting memories of a very special stay.
PARKING
Parking spaces are like gold dust in Dartmouth and we are very lucky to have plenty of parking at Barrington House.
There are four car spaces – two by the main front door and two in the private driveway.
