Dartmouth is a wonderful town to visit in spring, summer, autumn and winter. No matter when you visit you’ll find a wide range of exciting seasonal events being held that highlight what the town has to offer – in fact there are more than 20 shows and festivals planned each year. Whether it is dancing on the beach, watching a military air display, paddle board racing down the Dart or eating local crab by the water, there is an event to suit everyone in this part of Devon
Here are some of the great annual and special events held in Dartmouth that you won’t want to miss!
Dart Music Festival
The Dart Music Festival has become a key and popular event in the Dartmouth calendar providing an eclectic and vibrant mix of music played out in local bars, pubs, restaurants, the Bandstand, the Market, Guildhall and the Flavel Arts Centre.
From jazz, blues, opera, classical, folk and rock, Dart Music Festival appeals to all ages. The Dart Music Festival is a 3 day event and is held annually in mid May.
Dartmouth Royal Regatta
Dartmouth Regatta was founded in 1822 and is the highlight of the summer season in Dartmouth. Crowds flock to Dartmouth to experience a fun filled programme of activities including rowing, sailing, a large fair, craft markets, fireworks displays, air displays, running races, tennis tournaments and so much more.
The Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta is held in late August / early September each year.
Dartmouth Food Festival
The Dartmouth Food Festival is a major West Country event and draws in over 10,000 visitors from across the UK every year. It is a showcase for the food and drink producers in South Devon, from local organic farms right through to winemakers.
Along with regular appearances from celebrity chefs (Mitch Tonks, John Burton Race, Alan Murchison to name but a few!), and a wide range of events, workshops and demonstrations this 3 day culinary event is a real gem! Dartmouth Food Festival is held annually in October.
